Gokova Sailing Holidays & Yacht Vacations

Would you want to go on a vacation in Gokova this year, about which the famous sailor Sadun Boro said “God created the world and engraved Gokova. To describe heaven, endowed it upon his servants”? With its fascinating scenery, Gokova is one of the frequent stops of sailing holidays.

The Gulf of Gokova is located between Bodrum and Datca Peninsula in the Aegean region of Turkey. This bay, which is legendary for its wondrous nature, has the potential to make you leave behind the stress and fatigue of the whole year. Gokova offers many alternatives not only for those who seek for peace, but also for those who want to have an active holiday discovering new places intertwined with history and culture. We compiled some of the most beautiful bays in Gokova for which the fisherman of Halicarnassus Cevat Sakir Kabaagacli said “See Rome and die, see Gokova and live”.

Sedir Island (Cleopatra Island)

Surrounded by the crystal clear waters of Kerme Bay (The Gulf of Gokova), Sedir Island is located within the borders of Mugla. Modern settlements on one side of the island and the ruins of Kedrai Ancient City on the other side fascinate the visitors here. The beach located in the northwestern of the island, where Cleopatra is rumored to have swam in its sea, is among the must-see places on a sailing holiday in Gokova.

English Port

English Port, also known as English Harbor, is located in Degirmenbuku, the largest bay of the Gulf of Gokova. The port was named after the British fleet which escaped from the German warship and hid in this favorable geographical location in World War II. Its sea nestled in the pine forests will keep you away from the chaos of life, as it had hidden the English fleet from the enemies years ago. English Port is an ideal place for those who want to write a book, daydream, or spend time alone for a while to truly relax. Moreover, there are two restaurants that serve to the fishermen and yachtsmen who live in the port all year round. If you wish, you can have a delicious dinner with your beloved ones in those restaurants.

Degirmenbuku

Located between Sazan Burnu and Ince Burun, Degirmenbuku is the largest bay of the Gulf of Gokova. Degirmenbuku contains beautiful and sheltered coves such as Hirsiz Cove and Ingiliz Cove. You can enjoy the unique scenery of the Greek Island of Kos, which is right across the bay, and swim feeling the soft breezes. You can also explore the surroundings by taking short walks in nature on the Carian road.

Hirsiz Bay

Hirsiz Bay is located just behind the west bays at the entrance of Degirmenbuku and its mouth faces the south. That is why the bay is sheltered from all weather conditions except south winds. Hirsiz Bay, where blue and green are in great harmony, is one of the places you must add to your route during your yacht vacation in Gokova.

Cokertme Bay

Cokertme Bay, which is located on the shores of the Gulf of Gokova, is connected to the Milas district of Mugla. Although it is close to Bodrum where the heart of fun beats, the bay managed to maintain its calmness. In this paradise bay surrounded by mountains, you can swim in the turquoise waters and relax your body and mind.

Seven Islands

Another frequent destination for sailing holidays in Gokova is the Seven Islands. Since the shores of the island are surrounded by coral reefs, this region is quite suitable for underwater sports. Here you can swim among the coral reefs and explore the colorful marine life by snorkeling. There are many bays and beaches in the Seven Islands. These are Camalti Bay, Bekar Port, Karaagac Port, Uzun Harbor, Babus Buku,Kufre Cove and Gollu Island.

Kufre Bay

Kufre Bay is a natural harbor for sailors and is a sheltered place against all winds except the southwester. This bay is on the list of must-see places during a sailing vacation in Gokova. Here you can get a taste of salted fish and delicious salads prepared with the ingredients grown in the gardens of the family-run restaurants.

Gokova Sailing Holiday & Yacht Vacation Prices

You can set out on a sailing holiday with your loved ones in Gokova with prices starting from € 90 per day. Gokova yacht charter prices vary according to the boat type, guest capacity, equipment and seasonality. Gulet, motor yacht, sailboat and catamaran type of boats can be chartered in Gokova.

Boats can be rented with or without skipper. If you have the necessary licenses and enough experience in sailing, you may opt for the bareboat rental option, and plan your route freely and be the captain of your chartered yacht. There may be some extras in bareboat rentals such as the fuel and transit log fees.
