The Most Expensive Yachts in the World (2026)

The most expensive yachts in the world are worth hundreds of millions of dollars each, which puts them among the most valuable private objects anyone owns. So what is the most expensive yacht in the world? Going by the one official valuation on public record, it’s Dilbar, which the US Treasury valued at $600 million to $735 million in 2022. Scheherazade, Azzam and Eclipse follow at roughly $600 million to $700 million each. And the $4.8 billion History Supreme you keep seeing at the top of these lists? As we’ll explain, there’s no evidence it exists. Below are the 15 most expensive superyachts as of 2026, with their estimated prices and the stories behind them.

The Most Expensive Yachts in the World: 2026 List

A word of caution first. Superyacht prices are almost never confirmed sale prices. Most are estimated build costs or valuations, because these yachts rarely change hands on the open market and different sources value them in different ways. That’s why you’ll see the numbers vary from one list to the next. The table below uses the most reliable public estimates we could find.

The $4.8 Billion History Supreme: A Yacht That Doesn’t Exist

Search for the most expensive yacht in the world and one name shows up at the top of almost every list: History Supreme. It’s described as a 30-metre boat covered in 100 tonnes of gold and platinum, with a wall made of meteorite and a statue carved from a T. rex bone, sold for $4.8 billion. The trouble is that no one has ever been able to prove the History Supreme is real. It doesn’t appear in any shipyard record, nobody has ever seen it on the water, and the promotional photos turned out to come from the website of the Italian builder Baia Yachts.

The story first appeared in 2011, when British designer Stuart Hughes put it out. No buyer, shipyard or contract has ever been documented. In all likelihood it was a marketing stunt that took on a life of its own online. So you won’t find it at number one here. We’ve stuck to yachts that demonstrably exist and whose value can be traced back to a credible source.

1. Dilbar: $600–735 million

The 156-metre superyacht Dilbar at sea, one of the most valuable private yachts in the world
Dilbar was built by Lürssen in Germany and delivered in 2016.

Of all the yachts with a value backed by an official source, Dilbar sits at the top. The 156-metre yacht is named after the mother of Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who has been linked to it by the authorities (he denies owning it). In 2022 the US Treasury valued it at between $600 million and $735 million as part of its sanctions action.

Lürssen delivered Dilbar in 2016. It’s known for one of the largest swimming pools ever fitted on a yacht and for its sheer interior volume. It carries a crew of more than 80, takes up to 40 guests and has two helipads. Espen Øino designed the exterior and Winch Design did the interiors.

2. Scheherazade: ~$700 million

The 140-metre Lürssen superyacht Scheherazade
Scheherazade was frozen by the Italian authorities in 2022.

Scheherazade is a 140-metre yacht delivered by Lürssen in 2020 and estimated to be worth around $700 million. It made headlines in 2022 when it was frozen in Italy. The Italian authorities linked it to figures close to the Russian government, and its owner has never been officially named.

The yacht has two helipads, a pool and a spa. Its valuation comes from estimates that surfaced while the Italian financial police were seizing it, rather than from any sale.

3. Azzam: ~$600 million

At 180 metres, Azzam is the longest private yacht in the world. It’s associated with the late UAE president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and its build cost of around $600 million puts it near the top of this list too.

For something so big, it’s surprisingly quick, with a top speed of about 30 knots (roughly 56 km/h). Nauta Yachts designed the exterior and Lürssen built it in about three years, which is a remarkably short time for a yacht of this size. It’s also known for its high level of security.

4. Eclipse: ~$590–700 million

Roman Abramovich's 162.5-metre superyacht Eclipse
Eclipse was built by Blohm+Voss in Hamburg.

Owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, Eclipse was routinely called the most expensive yacht in the world for years after it was delivered in 2010. The 162.5-metre yacht has a documented build cost of roughly $590–700 million. Some recent market estimates go as high as $1.5 billion, but that’s an estimate, not a verified sale price.

On board you’ll find two helipads, two swimming pools, a mini submarine, 24 guest cabins and a missile detection system. A crew of 70 can look after up to 36 guests. Blohm+Voss built it in Hamburg, and British designer Terence Disdale handled the design.

5. Rising Sun: ~$590 million

The 138-metre Lürssen superyacht Rising Sun
Rising Sun was originally built for Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.

Rising Sun was built in 2004 for Larry Ellison, the co-founder and chairman of Oracle. Today it belongs to film and music producer David Geffen. At 138 metres and worth around $590 million, it’s one of the biggest and best-known private yachts afloat.

It was designed by Jon Bannenberg and built by Lürssen in Bremen. With 82 rooms and plenty of space for entertaining, it’s often described as a floating mansion.

6. Sailing Yacht A: ~$575 million

Sailing Yacht A is the largest sailing yacht in the world. It’s linked to Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko and is worth around $575 million (the Italian financial police put it at €530 million in 2022). The 143-metre yacht was designed by Philippe Starck.

Its huge freestanding, rotating masts make it a genuine feat of engineering. The hull and main structure were built by Nobiskrug in Kiel. Together with its motor-powered sibling, Motor Yacht A, it’s the best known of Melnichenko’s yachts.

7. Koru: ~$500 million

Koru is the 127-metre, three-masted sailing yacht that Dutch shipyard Oceanco delivered to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2023. At around $500 million, it’s one of the most expensive sailing yachts ever built.

It pairs a classic schooner silhouette with modern engineering. Its masts are so tall that there was talk of temporarily dismantling a historic bridge in Rotterdam so the yacht could get out to sea. Koru also travels with a support vessel, Abeona, which carries a helipad.

8. Serene: ~$450–500 million

The 134-metre Fincantieri superyacht Serene
Serene was built by Fincantieri in Italy.

The 133.9-metre Serene was originally built for Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler. It’s best remembered as the yacht Bill Gates chartered in 2014 for a reported $5 million a week. Its current owner is Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

It was built by Italian shipyard Fincantieri, with design by Reymond Langton Design. Its more unusual features include a snow room, a submarine hangar and a climbing wall.

9. A+ (Topaz): ~$400 million

The 147-metre Lürssen superyacht A+, formerly known as Topaz
A+ is associated with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

A+, which used to be called Topaz, is a 147-metre yacht worth around $400 million. It’s associated with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates.

Lürssen built it in 2012. With two helipads and generous social spaces, it ranks among the largest yachts in the world. The design is by Tim Heywood.

10. Flying Fox: ~$400 million

The 136-metre charter superyacht Flying Fox
Flying Fox was built by Lürssen in 2019.

The 136-metre Flying Fox is worth around $400 million and is one of the largest superyachts you can actually charter. Lürssen built it in 2019.

It has a two-storey spa, a swimming pool and top-end diving equipment, and weekly charter rates start at around €3 million. That makes it one of the more “accessible” yachts on this list, at least in the sense that you can rent it. Jeff Bezos chartered Flying Fox for a holiday and dropped anchor in the bays of Gocek and Fethiye on Turkey’s coast, a visit that was widely covered in the Turkish press.

11. Dubai: ~$350–400 million

The 162-metre Dubai belongs to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, and is worth an estimated $350–400 million. Its seven decks hold everything from a swimming pool to several jacuzzis.

Work on the yacht originally started for Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. In 2001 the unfinished hull was acquired and completed by Platinum Yachts, and the yacht was renamed Dubai. Like every yacht of this size, it has a helipad.

12. Motor Yacht A: ~$300–440 million

Motor Yacht A has one of the most distinctive designs of any yacht afloat. Russian industrialist Andrey Melnichenko ordered it in 2004 and took delivery in 2008. The 119-metre yacht is valued at somewhere between $300 million and $440 million, depending on the source.

It was designed by Philippe Starck, with naval architecture by Martin Francis, and built by Blohm+Voss. It has a crew of 42 and room for 14 guests. Along with its sailing sibling, Sailing Yacht A, it’s the best known of Melnichenko’s yachts.

13. Al Said: ~$300 million

The 155-metre superyacht Al Said, owned by the Sultanate of Oman
Al Said was delivered by Lürssen in 2008.

Al Said belongs to the Sultanate of Oman. At 155 metres it’s one of the longest yachts in the world, and it’s valued at around $300 million. It stands out for its large cabins and unusually spacious decks.

Its most remarkable feature is a concert hall big enough for a 50-piece orchestra. Lürssen delivered it in 2008.

14. Amadea: ~$230–300 million

The 106-metre Lürssen superyacht Amadea
Amadea was seized in 2022 and sold at auction in 2025.

Amadea is a 106-metre yacht built by Lürssen in 2017. The US Department of Justice valued it at up to $300 million, while an independent appraisal came in at around $230 million.

It was seized in 2022 and sold at auction by the US authorities in 2025. The buyer hasn’t been officially disclosed. The exterior was designed by Espen Øino, and it comes with a pool and a helipad.

15. Al Mirqab: ~$250 million

The 133-metre superyacht Al Mirqab, owned by a former prime minister of Qatar
Al Mirqab was built by Peters Schiffbau Wewelsfleth in Germany.

Al Mirqab belongs to Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the former prime minister of Qatar, and is worth around $250 million. The 133-metre yacht was delivered in 2008 by the German shipyard Peters Schiffbau Wewelsfleth.

It has 10 luxury guest cabins and a crew of 55, along with a bar, a swimming pool, a cinema and a helipad. Tim Heywood designed the exterior and Winch Design did the interiors.

Why Are Superyachts So Expensive?

Size is only part of it. The main costs come from custom hulls and engineering, extras like helipads and submarines, interiors by the best designers in the business, advanced security systems and a full-time crew that often runs to dozens of people. And the purchase price is only the beginning. Running a superyacht typically costs around 10% of its purchase price every year, so a yacht worth hundreds of millions can easily cost tens of millions a year to keep. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most expensive yacht in the world?

The highest value backed by an official source belongs to Dilbar: in 2022 the US Treasury valued it at $600 million to $735 million. Scheherazade, Azzam and Eclipse are close behind, at roughly $600 million to $700 million each.

Is the History Supreme yacht real?

There’s no evidence that it is. The “$4.8 billion gold-plated yacht” has no shipyard record, has never been seen on the water, and its promotional photos were traced back to another boatbuilder’s website. Most maritime experts consider it a marketing myth.

What is the largest yacht in the world?

At 180 metres, Azzam is the longest private yacht in the world. Length isn’t what makes a yacht the most expensive, though. The 156-metre Dilbar, for example, is valued higher than the 180-metre Azzam.

What is Jeff Bezos’s yacht called?

Jeff Bezos’s yacht is Koru, a 127-metre sailing yacht delivered by Oceanco in 2023. Worth around $500 million, it’s one of the largest sailing yachts in the world.

Can you charter a superyacht?

Yes. Some of these yachts, Flying Fox among them, can be chartered by the week, but rates run into millions of euros. For a far more affordable taste of luxury, chartering a luxury yacht in Turkey is a much more realistic option.

Why do yacht prices vary so much between sources?

Because most figures are estimated build costs or valuations, not confirmed sale prices. Yachts rarely change hands on the open market, and their value is calculated in different ways, so it’s normal for numbers to differ from one source to another.
