With the summer months arrived its time to sail. Best way to do this for those who don’t own a boat is to charter one. However, it is difficult to view all options and prices. To fix this problem Baran Yıldırım and Emre Küçüközkan founded Viravira. Bringing together boat owners and those who want to rent a boat, Viravira swiftly gained global attention. The initiative has over 3,000 boats all over the world, from Seychelles to the Mediterranean, Viravira serves all over the world, chiefly in European countries.
IDLE CAPACITY UTILIZED
Küçüközkan tells me about how they noticed that local people are mostly strangers to the seafaring despite the fact Turkey is very suitable for yacht holidays and realized underutilized boat capacity causing dramatic inefficiency. He added “We examined projects abroad and decided to go southern Turkey to see the dynamics of the yacht charter industry on the field. After getting past development period, our third co-founder Aysin Şeker joined us”.
Küçüközkan says Viravira is the only online boat rental marketplace that offers hourly, daily and weekly rental options together in the world, he added “Unlike our rivals which offer similar services Viravira is the only platform that has 100% booking process including the payment. We provide our customers with a comment system about boats to have more information about that specific vessel. One of the main points that make Viravira differ from its local rivals is the fact it directly reaches boat owners, charter firms, and uses global service providers to have detailed information about the boats. As a result of this, we offer much more agreeable prices. Other things that differentiate us from the local competition is our route planning, calendar, messaging service, and personalized discount functionality.”
Küçüközkan says they serve in 22 countries including Turkey and adds “We serve in 250 locations all over the globe including entire Europe with over 3000 boats. Currently, our hourly boat rentals mostly focus on Istanbul while our weekly Blue Cruises take place in southern coastal regions.”
Started operations in early 2017, Turkey’s only online yacht charter platform Viravira now operates in 25 countries with over 3,000 boats.
They aspire to become a dominant figure of yacht charters in the Mediterranean. In 2018, they focused on Turkish customers in the Mediterranean region. In 2019, they plan to focus on foreign tourists in all Mediterranean countries. The company takes firm steps forward by launching itself to the global arena, one of the few in Turkey to do so.
Providing many options to the customers' such as location, date, and the price, Viravira offers a quick and safe method to charter a suitable yacht. With 100% online reservation process, hourly/daily/weekly chartering options, and online payment methods such as credit card, transfer, and installments, Viravira makes yacht charters accessible to a bigger audience.
Co-founder Emre Küçüközkan tells of Viravira’s services:
“With the real-time data found within the platform such as the occupancy rate, prices, and discounts, you can charter a yacht in a few simple steps just like you buy airplane tickets online. However, our services are not limited to this. Customers can reach our experienced holiday advisors and send their request, and we pick suitable boats according to their criteria and send them the transaction link through e-mail. Also, by negotiating with the boat owner on behalf of our customers, we can get discounts as high as 60%. With our large number of boats and competitive practices, it is possible to rent a boat as low as 20-25 euro per day."
About the company’s place within the industry, Küçüközkan says: “With corporate partnerships with Turkey’s leading companies, loyalty programs, and concierge service providers, Viravira offers boat owners to reach a large pool of customers and help them reduce their costs. We are not in competition with charter companies, we see them as our partners and offer them a new sales channel.”
Viravira also aims to draw attention to Turkey’s yacht tourism with its content platforms such as ViraviraBlog, ViraviraInfo, and ViraviraRoutes.
